JMR - Blue Steel

Some watches are inspired by aviation, racing, or deep-sea exploration.

This one was inspired by the look my wife and three daughters give me when I say something I probably should have kept to myself.

I’ve never been particularly gifted at filtering my thoughts before they become words. Over the years, that has earned me plenty of stares from the women in my house — usually some combination of disbelief, embarrassment, and did you really just say that?

Naturally, it reminded me of Blue Steel.

I loved Zoolander when it first came out, and Ben Stiller’s legendary modeling face became the perfect inspiration for a watch that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

The JMR Blue Steel is a nod to the classic Cartier Santos design, featuring a polished steel case framed by a blue bezel, a crisp white dial with Roman numerals, matching blue hands, and a date window positioned neatly at 6 o’clock. It’s clean, sharp, and just flashy enough to get a look.

Hopefully a better one than I usually get at home.
