JMR - A Yacht More

Some watches are inspired by the sea. This one was inspired by blueberries.

When my youngest daughter was three, she hadn’t quite mastered the phrase “a lot.” Instead, everything was “a yacht.”

And when blueberries were involved, she never wanted just a few.

She wanted a yacht more.

It was one of those little mispronunciations that only a parent fully understands—the kind of thing that makes absolutely no sense to anyone else, but somehow becomes part of the family vocabulary overnight. Looking back, I wish I had written down every funny word and phrase my kids came up with when they were little.

A Yacht More is my way of holding onto one of them.

The watch pays homage to the unmistakable styling of the Rolex Yacht-Master, but tells a much more personal story. A gold Submariner-style case and gold bezel give it the presence of a classic luxury sports watch, while the brown leather strap makes it warmer and a little less serious.

And then there’s the blue dial.

That color is there for a reason.

Because when a three-year-old asks for “a yacht of blueberries” enough times, eventually you build a watch about it.
